StateSync documentation
How to install StateSync, connect the coding agents you already pay for, and get the same work done for less.
StateSync is a desktop app that runs the coding agents you already pay for, on your own subscriptions and keys. StateSync sits between you and the agent, not between the agent and its provider, so the way your agent reaches Anthropic or OpenAI does not change.
These pages cover using StateSync: what each part of the app does, what leaves your computer, and what to check when something goes wrong.
Get started
Working in StateSync
- AgentsWhich coding agents StateSync runs, how it finds the ones you already have, and how your own subscriptions and keys are used.
- Switching agent mid-taskHit a limit halfway through a task? Move the conversation to another agent you pay for and carry on.
- Reviewing changesRead every file an agent touched, revert a change, and commit, without leaving the window.
- StateVoice dictationPress a shortcut and talk. StateVoice transcribes on your own machine, so the recording never leaves your computer.
- Terminals and VS CodeTerminal settings, and the VS Code extension that puts StateSync's chat and terminal beside your code.
- SettingsEvery section of StateSync's settings, and what each one is for.
How it works
Cutting agent costs
- How to reduce Claude Code costsThe free fixes that keep a Claude Code bill down, and what StateSync adds on top.
- How to reduce Codex CLI token usageThe settings and habits that make each Codex message carry less, so a plan lasts longer.
- How to cut Cursor CLI costsWhere Cursor CLI spend comes from and the free ways to slow it down.
- StateSync and /compactCompaction is for when a task ends. StateSync works while one is running. When to use each.
- Tools that make coding agents cheaper, comparedThe tools that cut coding agent spend, sorted by what they act on.
Your account
- Plans and usageWhat each plan costs, how the weekly allowance works, and what happens when a week runs out.
- Signing in and devicesHow sign-in works without a password, how a device is authorised, and how to remove one.
- TroubleshootingWhat to check when an agent will not launch, a sign-in or an update will not complete, or dictation will not start.
Still deciding?
The evidence has every measured task, wins and losses. The pages under Cutting agent costs cover the fixes that cost nothing and do not need StateSync.
