Install StateSync
Download StateSync for Windows, macOS or Linux, and what happens the first time it opens.
StateSync is a desktop app. There is no browser extension, no command line tool to install first, and nothing to add to your projects.
What you need
- Windows 10 or later, macOS 11 or later, or Linux.
- A subscription or an API key for at least 1 coding agent. StateSync runs the agents you already pay for and has no model of its own.
- A StateSync account. Signing up takes an email address and a one-time code.
Download and install
Take the build for your system from the download page. No account is needed to download. You sign in from the app the first time it opens, which is what links it to your plan.
- Windows: run the installer. No administrator rights needed.
- macOS: open the disk image and drag StateSync to Applications. Apple signing is still being approved, so the first time it opens macOS may say it cannot check the app. The download page shows the one command that clears this.
- Linux: the AppImage is self-contained. Mark the file executable and run it.
The first time StateSync opens
Sign in
StateSync opens your browser. Confirm there, in the account you signed up with, and the app is signed in. No password is involved.Check your agents
StateSync looks for coding agents already on your machine and lists each one with the account it is signed in on. An agent you do not have yet can be installed from Settings, in Providers & agents.Open a project
Pick a folder and start a chat. Your first project covers the rest.
Updates
StateSync checks for updates and downloads them in the background while you work. When an update is ready, StateSync asks before restarting.
- Restarting stops any agent in the middle of a task, so StateSync will not restart to update while an agent is running.
- To check straight away, open Settings, then General, and press Check for updates.
What changed in each version is on the changelog.
