Your first project

Open a folder, pick an agent, run a task, and read what changed.

A project in StateSync is a folder on your computer. There is no import step and no project file: open a folder and that folder is the project.

  1. Open a folder

Pick the root of the repository, not a subfolder. The agent can only work with what it can see. StateSync will not open a whole drive or your home folder as a project.
  2. Pick an agent

Choose the agent and the model for the chat. The agent runs on your own account with its provider.
  3. Describe the work

Write the task the way you would to the agent on its own. StateSync does not rewrite your prompt or add instructions to it.
  4. Read what changed

Every file the agent touched appears in the review pane on the right, with the diff, so you read the change itself rather than a summary of it.

What StateSync does while you work

StateSync works in the background, on your machine, to get the same result for less. It does not change what the agent can do. What StateSync does lists the capabilities.

Where an agent can work

An agent in StateSync stays inside the project folder, any extra working folders you add, and a scratch folder of its own. Files anywhere else are out of reach.

To let agents work outside the project, open Settings, then Capabilities, and turn on Work outside the project folder. The setting is off until you turn it on.

Several projects and chats at once

  • Each project keeps its own chats, terminals and review state.
  • Chats in a project are separate conversations. Work in one does not leak into another.
  • A terminal opened in a project starts in that project's folder.
  • Archive a chat or a project to clear it out of the way. Archived work is kept in Settings, under Archive, where you can restore it or delete it.
